14: "Big Wind, Small Towns" discussion is at Pine Lake and starts at 7pm in the Strawbale cabin. Call 278-5429 for details. Polens and Birnbaum will discuss how the residents of a rural town near Oneonta (Meredith) would be affected by commercial wind development, and their vision for appropriately scaled, community-friendly renewable energy alternatives. Rachel Polens, a 1984 graduate of Hartwick College, resides in Meredith, NY. She is the owner of Rachel's Framing and Fine Art, a custom framing shop in Delhi, NY. Danny Birnbaum, a 1984 graduate of SUNY Oneonta, resides in Meredith, NY, where he was recently elected to the Meredith Town Council. He is also the owner of Damascene Book Cellar, a textbook store in Oneonta, NY. Refreshments will be served following the talk. This talk, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Pine Lake Environmental Campus of Hartwick College.
