The wonder of blueberrieslCANNING AND FOOD PRESERVATION
Want to support and participate in canning workshops in our area in the coming year? For Colleen and I Pine Lake was our site last year. In the future, we can find and make canning workshops that can be predicted each late summer/fall, at the same place and time every year so that it can be part of a community calendar at Pine Lake and other spots.
Secondly, Colleen and I wondered whether an EXISTING kitchen might become certified, so that food preservationists in our area could can/bottle and sell their wares here in this area. Although I'm not interested in selling myself, I AM interested in developing it for others to use.
HERE ARE SOME PLACES that I can think of THAT MAY ALREADY HAVE COMMUNITY KITCHENS:
Otsego County Fairgrounds.
BOCES for both community kitchen and workshops.
Read below for what they have in their catalog, strangely it seems to have been run in MAY? Read at the bottom for info on BOCES sessions.
GRANGE, particularly the Butternut Grange

Sewing: Clothing, Upholstry, Etc.
Hoping that many of us are interested in a sewing club.
It might take the form of
1.-a list of people (including phone #'s and email) interested in sewing projects who want to work together to exchange ideas and cooperate in the fitting stage of a project
2.-a group with a formal meeting time?
3.-(?)
I hope that whatever form it takes, it will include everyone from expert sewers to wanna be's because there's always something new to learn and something new that you learn when you explain.

Want to add your own skill? Go to the bottom HOW TO EDIT.
The skills registry is for everyone to add to with a skill they can share in the community. As this list grows, our community can build a network of friends and neighbors that can work locally, potentially on a barter system.
